MISSION: BEST MOTHER’S DAY GIFT April 22, 2019 – Posted in: Be Inspired, Mothers Day !

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s that time to start shopping for your mom’s gift. It is important to celebrate your mother, especially since being a mother is one of the toughest jobs on earth! (Amen??!) Mothers aren’t always appreciated, except on Mother’s Day, therefore it is NECESSARY to splurge a little every second Sunday in May.  Show your mother, or mother figures, how much they mean to you!

In the United States, Mother’s Day continues to be celebrated by presenting mothers and the other special women in our lives with gifts and flowers;  it has become one of the biggest holidays for consumer spending. Families also celebrate by giving mothers a day off from activities like cooking or other household chores, according to the History website.  If that doesn’t bring awareness to the essentialness of Mother’s Day, than let’s dive into the origins of Mother’s Day.

Although many women have contributed to the establishment of Mother’s Day, one of the leading women was Julia Ward Howe. The cause of world peace was the impetus for Julia Ward Howe’s establishment, over a century ago, of a special day for mothers.

Following unsuccessful efforts to pull together an international pacifist conference after the Franco-Prussian War, Howe began to think of a global appeal to women, according to the National Women’s History Alliance website.  Thank you, Ms. Howe, for getting the celebration started!

Ready for some Mother’s Day gift ideas? Every woman needs a good handbag, and the bigger the bag, the more useful it is. At Shades of Color we design a plethora of handbags and tote bags that are colorful, inspirationally lovely, and complimentary to moms everywhere.

If God created us in his image, then Shades of Color created figurines in the image of  African-American women. If you love the history and heritage behind your mother’s eyes (if she happens to be an African- American woman), then give her one of our beautifully hand-crafted figurines as a representation of her being  a woman and mother.

If your mother happens to be creatively inclined, then she’ll greatly appreciate our framed canvas art, which adds to any home decor, with it’s high quality canvas, and the various uniquely artistic designs from actual African-American artists.

If you want more options for Mother’s Day, don’t hesitate to visit the Shades of Color website. To all of our moms, grandmoms, aunts, godmoms, sisters, nieces and surrogate moms  – Happy Mother’s Day! You UPLIFT and INSPIRE us all year through!
